Family {F}

This family was so full of energy we hiked (not very far) up to the train tracks to get these photos. The older daughter seemed to ask about a million questions while we were together and then asked the question "Can I take a picture?" Well we got to use this to make her co-operate with us "If you pose for us and smile when we ask we will let you take a picture at the end." Of course I held the camera while she hit the shutter but it was just so precious. She just wanted to do what we were doing. Maybe a future photographer???? I could teach her all I know but I'm sure she would surpass me in no time :)

As you can see from the colors of the photos these were taken in the summer and are just getting on the blog now. We are very grateful to our clients patience with us as we dealt with a very difficult family struggle. (Which kinda made us miss the fall pictures for people). We love all of our fans!

Baby {A} Turns ONE!!!

We have had the pleasure of photographing this young family for a while. I can't believe Baby {A} is one... and his big sister is 2!!!!! These kids are getting big way to fast and its pretty safe to say they aren't really babies anymore! I love this family and the kids are awesome. They were a little hard to get them to pose together but I love the shots that we got!

Then we got to do a CAKE-SMASH!!! He didn't mind getting dirty and eating cake with his hands!!!

Look at him thanking God for this wonderful cake!!!!

His sister on the other hand did NOT want to get dirty
But he didn't mind getting his sister dirty for us!!!

Thanks guys for another great shoot!

Baby {M} warmed my heart

Here are Baby {M}'s pictures from 2 weeks ago. He was so precious but he really didn't want to sleep for us. He was at our house from about 6pm and he didn't sleep more than 10 minutes until about 10:30! It took several bottles... a car ride that didn't work and lots of TV before he actually fell into a deep sleep.  But eventually once he was in a deep sleep he rocked the shoot!

Thanks Baby {M} and family we had a blast!

Family {E}

We have known this family for a very long time! Brad and Jeff have been friends for a very long time. He was the best man at his wedding and we have had the privilege to watch as this family grows. They were the first in the group of friends to have a baby and now they have a gorgeous family. It was a pleasure to get the opportunity to  photograph this family. Sometimes its hard to get kids to co-operate.... and the oldest child was not an exception! After a couple of photos she decided she didn't want to do this after all! However we did manage to get her to co-operate just long enough to get the pictures her mom wanted!

 Thanks guys for the great time :D

Back to blogging!!!!!!!

I never realized that blogs were that popular.... but it's the first thing that pops up when you google our name. So I think I should get back to blogging. I believe it's one of the most common photographers New Years Resolution "I'm going to keep up with my blog this year." Well it's not the new year but I'm determined to keep this blog going even if it is only close friends and family reading it!

OK so the first family up on our blog is Family {S}
These kids (well more like young adults) were soooo much fun to work with. I think they were the most co-operative clients yet!!!!!!! The mom picked all the locations and I think I need to hire her for some creative inspiration. If only we could afford her.... not to mention the drive from Sudbury to Sault Ste Marie wouldn't be any fun for her!

I can't thank them enough for this shoot!!!! I had so much fun!!!!

Beginning in the photography world

JB Ramsay Photography started when we (Brad and Jennifer Ramsay) got a digital SLR as our wedding gift (August 2008). We knew we liked the idea of having this camera to be able to take great pictures but we (and even the people who bought it for us) couldn’t imagine how far we would take it. It started as a hobby going on trips and taking pictures we loved the look of the pictures and soon after the wedding started buying lenses and accessories for our new “hobby.” We will never forget one of the very first pictures that were taken with our camera. It was taken by Katie (Jennifer’s sister) the day of our wedding. It has to be one of our favorite pictures taken on that day. We loved the picture but that is when we first learned about post processing and how much fun it could be. Brads brother Bryan (a wonderful photographer from California who we owe a magnitude of gratitude because without his help we wouldn’t have gotten as far as we have today) taught us about gimp. A free processing program so we didn’t have to spend more money on Photoshop. With the combination of the picture taken and gimp we knew our possibilities were endless.

Another picture that caught us by surprise was when we went away right after the wedding with Brad’s parents, brother and sister in law. We went to Mackinac Island and went into the butterfly exhibit. This is when we first learned that our possibilities with our camera could be endless. We spent sooo much time in that exhibit. We still feel bad for Brads sister in law and parents for having to stand around and wait for us to take pictures in this exhibit. Bryan on the other hand was standing along with us taking just as many pictures if not more!

That was how we got our interest in photography. In the next week we will post more blogs about how we got to where we are today. We want to thank the group of guests that pitched in and bought us our first SLR. We wouldn’t even think of starting our own business without you. Also a HUGE thank you to Bryan…. We would defiantly not be in business without him. He has taught us soooo much technical knowledge about photography and this business. We could not have done it without him. We will be forever grateful to these people.
